FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, May 4, 2017

MILLINGTON, TN (April 25, 2017) – The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Citizens throughout the country are preparing to heed the call by our elected leaders to exercise one of their most precious freedoms – the right to gather, turn to God, and pray. In response, millions will assemble at thousands of local events across the nation, where they will take time out of their daily schedules to intercede on behalf of their communities, their nation, and their leaders.

The City of Millington welcomes everyone to participate in the local observance on May 4, 2017 at the Baker Community Center located at 7942 Church Street.  The event will begin at 7:00 PM.  For more information, contact Millington Arts, Recreation and Parks at 901.873.5770.
