News Release: Month of June Read to be Ready Summer Camp

Greetings: I wanted to let you know about a wonderful program being hosted at Millington Elementary School during the month of June. Millington Municipal Schools was one of the state's systems to apply for and receive a TN Read to Be Ready Summer Camp grant. This program focuses on early literacy and the camp and all activities are being provided at no cost to the selected rising first through third grade campers. Each camper also receives at least 35 books for his/her home library. This is the second year we have hosted this camp, and this year we had 90 applicants for 35 available spots. Will you please share the following information and invitation with your Chamber members? Our camp’s theme this year is Traveling Tennessee through Texts. We will be exploring the music, art, people, and nature of Tennessee. We would be honored if you have time in your schedule to stop by and read a book or just visit with us as one of our community members. If you have any information about any of our weekly themes, we would love for you to share that also! Our camp begins June 4, and we are at Millington Elementary Monday, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30 am-1:00 pm. Wednesdays are our field trip days.
